A message to my list was rejected. Why did this happen?
Brief explanation of the most common reasons why messages are rejected by Sympa.
The most common reason Sympa rejects a message is that the email address that sent the message was not subscribed to the list. We have seen many instances where a member of an organization, or an individual, has two (or more) email addresses and they assume that any of their addresses can send to a list. But Sympa will reject any messages sent from a non-subscribed address.
If you encounter this problem, please check to see whether the person (meaning the email address that sent the message) in question is subscribed to your list.
We have also seen many instances where organizations have changed their name, and thus their email addresses, and they haven't updated this information within Sympa. Please log in at http://lists.onenw.org to change your email address
Another common reason messages are rejected is that they exceed the maximum allowable message size, which is roughly 1MB. Follow the instructions here when that happens or, if you've done that and still can't figure out why your message won't go through, contact us.
