An outline of our basic project implementation steps on a normal website project.

An outline of our basic project implementation steps on a normal website project. Actual project roadmaps will vary depending upon the complexity of your project.

Tasks to be completed prior to our issuing a project scope for your project

  1. Initial conversation with ONE/Northwest staffer to briefly discuss our services and how they might fit your needs. Request an initial conversation by emailing us at consulting@onenw.org
  2. Complete our Online Communications Intake survey.
  3. Complete Website Design Intake survey
  4. Complete a ONE/Northwest Services Orientation and pre-scoping meeting to identify ballpark costs and make clear decision to move to scoping. (To be scheduled with the appropriate staff person.)

Tasks to be completed prior to project start.

  1. Project finalized into a scope of work to be signed by your organization and ONE/Northwest.
  2. All design assets from your organization submitted to ONE/Northwest for use in the design of your site. (logo,  iconic photos, print newsletters, color palette, etc)
  3. Submit your ideas for a draft sitemap by using our template (Sample for Download)
  4. Initial third of project cost received (invoice sent after project scope signed)
  5. Project start date and hand off to project manager.

Project Implementation Milestones Once the Project is Underway

  1. Project Kickoff Meeting to review signed scope, sitemap and advanced functionality and Project To Do list
  2. Appropriate staff from your organization attends a Plone Basic Training. (View agenda, upcoming trainings and RSVP)
  3. You receive a link to your website built without a design for you to review and check that the navigation is correct.
  4. You begin posting basic content on your website using our online documentation at http://onenw.learnplone.org as a resource. (This information to be sent by your project manager)
  5. A ONE/Northwest designer emails a draft design and works closely with you to identify any necessary revisions to that design until a final design is agreed to.
  6. Second payment for project invoiced and received.
  7. Appropriate staff from your organization attends a Plone Intermediate Training. (When ready, ideally after completion of design phase)
  8. Design implementation, custom functionality and custom documentation completed.
  9. Appropriate staff attend a personalized administrator training to review custom products and answer any questions related to your site. (to be scheduled by your project manager)
  10. Your group completes all content posting.
  11. Quality assurance process complete – You and ONE/Northwest staff complete "walkthrough" of your site and ensure all items promised in scope were delivered or appropriately accounted for.
  12. Site Launch
  13. Project Closeout, Assessment, Hosting Agreement and Support Agreement Review, final project payment invoiced.

Typical Project Timelines: The duration of a custom website project implementation tends to be between 8 – 12 weeks.  However, the amount of time necessary to complete a website can vary greatly, depending on the amount of content, custom functionality and custom design you require.  Note that we often invoice the final payment of project prior to site launch due because you may take longer than you think to finish writing all of your site content.
